What are Medicare Supplements?

Medicare Supplement Plans (also called Medigap Plans) are there to minimize the out-of-pocket costs you’ll incur from your medical bills. Your Medicare Plant itself will cover what it can, and then you will be left with the remainder of the cost. The leftover expenses you may have can include:

  • Part A deductibles
  • Part A coinsurance or copay (for no more than 365 days of being hospitalized after you have run out of other coverage benefits from your Medicare Plan)
  • Coinsurance for care in a skilled nursing facility
  • Part B deductibles, coinsurance, copay, and excess charges
  • First three pints of blood when getting bloodwork
  • Emergency costs when receiving care out of the U.S.

Why Medicare Supplement Plans?

Medicare Supplement Plans will minimize your out-of-pocket costs. For some items, you won’t have to pay out-of-pocket at all. The only additional charge will be what you pay for the premium.

What are the choices?

The best choice may depend on the area you’re in. The Medicare Supplement Plans are A, B, C, D, F, G, K, L, M, and N. Each covers different portions of the costs. All of them will at least have Part A copay.
